Being in a garage rock band for two years straight can be an exhausting experience, well at least that's what happens at the beginning of Circarama, a neo-psychedelic/pop alternative band formed in 2012 by a solid quartet Muh. Jugo Djarot, Faiz Mochamad Rais, Teuku Rifaldi Moeli and Eki Yuda Sena. Through debut album "Plasticine Jewel", the band has taken their mainly 60s reference such as The Byrds and Jefferson Airplane into an album that is more than just merely an act of pastiche, escapism or nostalgia, but rather a journey. There are gems here and there, from the catchy vocal of "Porcelaine Sky", groovy bassline in "Kasuari" to the harmonized rhythm and lead sections in "Apple Queen" riffs, all delivered in drum playing that are simply fit.
The band joined Kolibri Rekords in 2019 and released "Perjaka", a double-single that stretches the band's musical style into two contrasting yet intersecting polars. "Megantara" starts out with a witty bassline, glorifies screaming guitars and rocks out a Brian May-esque guitar solo while "Long Gone" sets us into a honeymoon in Hawaii through its catchy and laidback surf-pop soundscape.
